Matthew Pietro
My name is Matthew Pietro and I am now an above the knee amputee, but I have more heart than scars.
I was born and raised in Connecticut and after high school graduation I moved to upstate New York with my family. Two short years after moving I enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in July 2006. I completed four years active service in July 2010. I then completed four years of inactive reserve duty last year. During my active duty I experienced many things that made me the man I am today. I experienced love, divorce, war, the loss of a child, the sights of the world, and honor.
While on inactive reserve status I was involved in a no fault motorcycle accident when an accident took place and led into me hitting a guard rail on Interstate 87, the North-way. This occurred on my enlistment anniversary, July 16th 2013.
